Dean Fisher

Dean Fisher studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and subsequently spent eight years living in England, France, and Spain, making master copies at The Prado Museum, The Louvre, and the National Gallery of Art. Afterward, he and his wife Josephine settled in Connecticut. Follow him via @dean.fisher.paintings on Instagram.

Dean has that amazing ability to deliver the cues by which we register the reality of things—their thickness, weight, dimensionality, and balance. This ability gives him the freedom to be “open” (as he says) in his style while giving his subjects a very strong presence.

Fisher works primarily through live direct perception, and he creates powerful gestures of strong colors and a surprising amount of subtle nuances. By working live, he transmits an extraordinary level of visual insights that only an exceptional artist would see.
