As a student and budding artist, Ponzio lived abroad for 6 years. Upon returning to the United States, she felt that she was seeing her home and herself with new perspective. Inspired by works in Florence that told stories through the lens of archetypical figures rather than individuals, this show seeks to capture ideas and feelings that make up archetypical aspects of the American identity. It is centered on a triptych (3-part) sculpture, “the Builder Series.”
