Michael Newberry
Michael Newberry is an American romantic figurative painter living in Idyllwild, California. His art integrates passion, mind, and visual perception. He started painting at 11 years and sold his first work at 17, later studying at USC, the Royal Academy at the Hague, and the Free Academy Psychopolis. He has taught at the Otis College of Art and Design. Thousands of his drawings, charcoals, pastels, acrylics, oil sketches, and definitive works have been collected worldwide. The Wave Series
Pastel Seascapes
We are very excited to be showing a technically brilliant collection of pastel seascapes that are variations on a breakthrough system for integrating color. Newberry - who has lectured at vision science conferences - has reinvented himself throughout his career by studying the nuances of light and color. This collection of work came about from a renewed study of Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Monet. Newberry has given a talk about the work and is offering a workshop through the Gage Academy of Art on October 1-3. He has also published a book about the collection.
